- The KCC Student Charter 2008 Revisions
He actively participates in the current movement to revise, amend and modernize the KCC Student Charter for the first time in twenty (20) years. The KCC Student Charter is the student’s constitution in our campus. It is the foundation of our student government and John Cando actively participates in constant institutional reforms and modernization of the charter according to needs of the current students.
- Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities
John Cando advocates active participation of students in joining various clubs and organizations according to their own personal interests.
- Campus Security and Safety
He supports the hiring of five (5) more security guards by the Administration. This action will give a more secured atmosphere which is more conducive to learning.
John is also actively supporting and currently participating the implementation of the UH Emergency Text Messaging System. This system will alert all UH System students in any disasters, calamities and emergencies that is happening and will happen right in their fingertips. With the help of this system, students will not rely heavily on the UH emergency emails since they don’t have easy access to the internet at once.
- Strong Advocate for Student Leadership
John voted and strongly supported the inclusion of the expansion of student leadership in KCC, by proposing a creation of a Student Leadership Institute in Hawai’i, the first in the state to concentrate on the studies and training of future leaders of our nation and the world.
- New Laptops for Fall 2008
John voted to buy 22 new laptop computer for students to use in the KCC Lama Library as a solution for from the great demand last Spring 2008 semester.
